FUNDRAISING KICKOFF FOR PLAYGROUND TO BE DEDICATED TO SEPTEMBER 11 VICTIM MICHAEL HORROCKS,

FIRST OFFICER OF UNITED FLIGHT 175

Kravco Company Joins with Glenwood Elementary School PTG to Make

Horrocks Family’s Request a Reality

MEDIA, Pa., May 7, 2002 – To create a vibrant and lively tribute to September 11 victim Michael Horrocks, Kravco Company of King of Prussia, Pa., and the Glenwood Elementary School PTG announce a fundraising kickoff for a playground to be renovated at the school in Media. Pa.  Horrocks, who resided in Glen Mills, Pa., was the first officer on United Flight 175.  His children, Christa, age 10, and Mick, age 7, attend Glenwood Elementary School.  The kickoff event will be held on Thursday, May 9, at 1:45 p.m. at the Glenwood Elementary School.

“Kravco employees wanted to do something constructive to give meaning to the horrific events of September 11,” said Lewis Gantman, president and chief operating officer of Kravco Company.  “When we learned of the Horrocks family’s loss, we decided to do whatever we could to embrace the family and honor Michael Horrocks.”

Kravco contacted Mrs. Horrocks and learned that she hoped something could be done to honor her husband’s memory.  “Our family received a tremendous outpouring of support from people regarding the children’s future education,” said Horrocks.  “While this is very comforting, we would like to also honor and preserve Michael’s memory.”

Because Michael Horrocks spent a considerable amount of time volunteering at his children’s school, Miriam Horrocks, at the request of her children, asked that funds be raised for the renovation of the school’s playground.  The renovated playground will be dedicated to the memory of Michael Horrocks, their father

“Michael loved volunteering at Glenwood, so this is a fitting tribute,” said Horrocks.  “The children wanted to reach out to the entire school population in order to ensure that all children, including those with special needs, have fun at recess.  Our family is touched by Kravco’s, the community’s and the school PTG’s generosity and willingness to work on this project.”

A pre-ceremony tour of the playground area will be led by Glenwood Student Council representatives, including Christa and Mick Horrocks.  After the tour, the whole school will gather for an assembly featuring a large-scale drawing of the playground plan.  Rose Tree/Media School District superintendent Dr. Laird Warner, state representative Matt Ryan, Miriam Horrocks, and Kravco president and chief operating officer Lewis Gantman will address the assembly.

In addition to its own corporate donation, Kravco plans to play a major role in securing donations to the playground fund.  “We are confident that our friends in the business community will want to join us in raising donations for this important and meaningful fund, making this playground a fitting tribute to Michael Horrocks,” said Gantman.  “Our goal for the fundraising campaign is $100,000.”

Playcare, Inc., of Wawa, Pa., will be designing the renovations for the playground.  Many of the renovations will involve making the playground more accessible for children with special needs.

In addition to securing donations, Kravco employees will participate in hands-on landscaping work during their annual community service day.  “One day each year, we close our corporate offices and do some type of community service.  We believe in giving back to the communities in which we live and work,” said Gantman.  “This year, we will work on the playground.”

Donations for the playground renovations in memory of Michael Horrocks can be made out to the Michael Horrocks Playground Fund, c/o PTG, Glenwood Elementary School, 122 South Pennell Road, Media, Pa., 19063.  For additional information on the Michael Horrocks Playground Fund, please visit Kravco’s Web site at www.Kravco.com
